You guys, it is time. Christmas everything – all day, err’day. And of course that includes Christmas music!
Little known fact about me – I come from a very musical family. I grew up singing in choirs, taking voice and piano lessons and surrounded by family who are also very musically inclined. Both my dad and brother play the drums and my mom is a great singer. In fact, my parents took their love for music to a whole new level and now play in a coverband for fun. I know, my parents are exponentially cooler than me. While I am in bed at 10pm on a Thursday night, my parents are usually out jamming with their friends somewhere. Those crazy kids.
Anyway, back on task – Christmas music. So…Christmas music is pretty great. The classics range from extremely moving and spiritual to funny and even tiresome – 12 Days of Christmas, I am talking about you! Each of these songs has their own time and place, but I think that we can all agree that not all Christmas music is conducive to a great workout, am I right? O’ Holy Night does not exactly get me pumped to lift some iron. That is where my 30-Minute Christmas Music Workout Playlist comes in.
I like to listen to it on shuffle so the order of songs never gets old. It is a mixed bag of old and new, but each song is upbeat and can keep you moving through a workout.
Sidenote – I went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert when they came to Philadelphia last year and all I can say is that it was definitely an experience. What type of experience, I still don’t know. I like to describe it as Metallica meets Christmas complete with laser light show and pyrotechnics. This group had a very devoted cult following. In any case, the TSO song I included in the playlist is spot-on, definite pump-up song.
So there you have it friends – 10 songs and 30 minutes of fast-paced Christmas fun. Now what are you waiting for, lace up those sneaks and jingle your jolly little self over to the gym!
Thanks for reading! Tell me, what is your favorite Christmas song? Have you ever tried running or working out to holiday music?
