Drinkwel Review…Finally a Vitamin Aimed at Party Animals!

by Her Happy Balance on January 3, 2013

Happy new year, everyone! I already messed up writing the date at work twice yesterday… my mind is still convinced its not only 2012 but also December. I’ll get it straight soon though! Are any of you still recovering from Monday night’s festivities? I may have forgotten to mention that somewhere in between work, working out, and trying to eat right…I totally like to party. Hard. So, I was doing some research one day, and I found this company through Bulu Box that produces a multivitamin that is specifically aimed at people who drink alcohol. So I decided that I definitely should give this one a try. I bring to you, Drinkwel!

Drinkwel Goods

One Drinkwel full-size bottle and 4 “to-go” packets, they each came in their own little tote bag with an instructions card! (The picture is dark because I put the vitamins under my Christmas tree…yeah, I went there)

Drinkwel contains lots of awesome vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Well, don’t all multivitamins have those ingredients?! Yes, but Drinkwel has some other tricks up their sleeve! One really big plus to the supplement is that it contains milk thistle. Milk thistle has been used medicinally for thousands of years because it is believed that it can help cleanse your liver (want to read more on milk thistle? click here!). And, I have been considering buying milk thistle for a long time now (it’s great if you take workout supplements like I sometimes do) and have just been putting it off because it’s pretty expensive, running at $25-35 a bottle. Drinkwel puts milk thistle in a complex with many other antioxidants and vitamins and I’d much rather pay for the whole shebang than just a single ingredient.Β Drinkwel also contains kudzu flower, bupleurum, betaine, and a lot of other things that I had never heard of before that are all necessary/helpful for liver function. I really like the layout of Drinkwel’s website and I suggest you give it a look too, here! The website can more clearly point out all the benefits to each ingredient than I can πŸ™‚

The travel packets! One packet before drinking, and one after you’re done…I enjoy the packaging

You can take Drinkwel everyday as a multivitamin, or you can take it before you start drinking and then again after you’re finished drinking to try and ward off a hangover or just to help boost your liver’s function. I put it to the ultimate test and took it on New Year’s Eve night. I won’t get into the nitty, gritty details of it all, but I will just say that I allowed myself to indulge in the wine and spirits. That being said, I took the vitamin as instructed, and woke up the next day with only a slight headache. Hooray! Now, whether or not taking the vitamin spared me from the awful hangover feeling or not I cannot be sure…all I know is that I was still able to hit up the gym on January 1st and I didn’t hibernate under the covers all day after a night of partying.

Here's the facts for you. Bonus: they're vegetarian!

I have to say it is slightly pricier than a typical multivitamin though, a month’s supply will cost you $39.95. A single dose is also 3 pills instead of just 1, so if you’re not a fan of swallowing pills, perhaps you should stick with your Flintstone chewables. Overall, it’s definitely a unique idea and if it helped my body recover from a night of too much fun, I can dig it.

Do you take any vitamins?
