Fit Four Workout Gloves Review and Giveaway!

by Her Happy Balance on February 28, 2013

Happy Thursday blog friends! I’m so excited to introduce you to this awesome workout gear find that I have been using and loving. The awesome people from Fit Four sent me a pair of their gloves to try and I am ridiculously excited about them. It’s almost pathetic. I don’t know about you, but I like to supplement cardio with strength training, you know – getting my Arnold on and pumping some iron. I’m not saying I’m one of those “I lift things up and put them down!” people, but I love going over to the free weights and being the only girl there and doing my best to lift with the guys. But lifting all those heavy weights has led me to start developing some calluses and I am not really a fan of that.

My hands don't want to be sad anymore! (Too weird?)

My hands don’t want to be sad anymore! (And to answer your question, yes I do realize that I am weird.)

I’ve used workout gloves in the past, but I wasn’t the biggest fan. I had the kind that covered your entire hand and I strapped them on with velcro around my wrist. The material they were made up quickly deteriorated and got super sweaty. I don’t think my hands were actually breathing at all…and thus the gloves smelled. So I gave up on them. And I have been working out sans gloves for about a year and half now. But all of that changed when I received these babies in the mail:

And out of the box and me wearing them:

Here’s the low down on the gloves:

Pros:

  • Minimalist design. The gloves only go around your four knuckles and grip area; they’re not bunchy and bulky. The company says that they “Cover what needs to be covered and leave the rest natural and free of inhibitions.” I dig it.
  • They form to your hands really nicely. The material covering your knuckles is stretchy and has some give to it, but they’re not loose.
  • The palms have air vent holes so your skin can breath, and it helps to reduce the likelihood of your gloves smelling.
  • If they do start to get a little funky though…machine washable!
  • I like the quality of the materials used in making them: synthetic leather on the palm region and premium lycra across your knuckles.
  • Competitively priced at $25.95. Usually when I review products, the cost of the item ends up on the con list. But I think that these gloves are worth the money. Plus the other gloves I was using cost more and didn’t hold up as well as these.
  • Available in 4 different sizes with a clear diagram explaining how to choose the correct size for your hand. I opted for a size small, and they are like a second skin!

Cons:

  • I haven’t been able to find these gloves in any sporting good stores near me yet. You’ll have to purchase them online if you want a pair.
  • Because they’re so small and lightweight, I’m a little worried that I may lose one. However, because I am currently obsessed with them, I haven’t let them out of my sight!

I’ve actually been on the hunt for some good fitness gloves, and these are perfect.

I try to incorporate strength training a few times a week using free weights and the leg weight machines at the gym. I probably should do it more often but I swear I can’t find the time to do it all! I am one of those runners that focuses more on the running unfortunately.

My fave strength training exercise is bench press. My husband got me doing these and I feel like such a beast when I can increase my weight! Gloves are a must though!

Cindy February 28, 2013 at 1:07 pm

Oh, I so need some of these gloves. I don’t like my hands covered by definitely need something to prevent calluses.

jessiebearwhat February 28, 2013 at 4:47 pm

do they keep your hands warm? they look so tiny!

bezzymates February 28, 2013 at 5:40 pm

I always lose my regular sized gloves, so although these look great, I don’t think they are for the queen of careless…aka me. My fave strength training move is the Arnold press.

jmack27 March 4, 2013 at 11:25 pm

I LOVE lifting weights!!! Makes me feel like a real bad b!tch! My absolute favorite lift is the DEAD LIFT! Which, as the weight on the barbell goes up, has left my hands lookin and feelin pretty rough. I REALLY NEED SOME LIFTING GLOVES! Help me, please! 🙂

I love to do compound exercises. Squats into overhead presses or lunges with bicep curls. I am all about getting the most out of my workouts. Plus they would look really cool when teaching my TurboKick classes.

My favorite (but also miserable) strength training workout is pull ups. Pull ups always mess up my hands and having a pair of gloves is the perfect trick to get rid of the callouses!

maureenbreakingfree March 5, 2013 at 1:28 pm

OMG! These look great! My hands are a callous-y mess from TRX and lifting! My favorite strength exercise is curtsey lunges with weights!

Cindy March 5, 2013 at 7:33 pm

I follow you 🙂 my favorite strength training exercise is bent-over rows, it uses your arms, back, chest…makes me feel strong.

noshingonasphalt March 6, 2013 at 1:05 pm

I’ve been eyeing these for a while now! My hands are pretty torn up from Crossfit. My favorite strength training exercise is the deadlift. Lifting that much weight just makes me feel all badass.

My favorite strength training exercise is either tricep dips or chest presses. My trainer has been yelling at me for weeks to get workout gloves because my hands are getting callousy and I complain if my hands hurt from the bars haha

The Cookie ChRUNicles March 14, 2013 at 9:59 am

I’m so bad with strength training! I don’t do enough of it but I did do some bi and tri workouts yesterday with the free weights!

Gina Wehmhoff February 16, 2014 at 8:51 pm

True love found: lol. I have been searching for some simple lightweight gloves that Help keep my hands a little less rough and DO NOT wrap around your wrists with velcro for easy removal and after finding fit four site and then reading the pros on the hhb website I am sold!!!!!! But cannot get a pair because I need an xsmall and they are sold out!!!
