Happy TGIF, friends! Man, this week has been a doozy. My clinical rotation this week was a bit of hot mess, then we threw Valentine’s Day in there, and with me feeling under the weather I’d say I am just about as ready for the weekend as I have ever been. I am celebrating the start of the weekend the best way I know how and coming at you with a fresh batch of Friday favorites – enjoy!
1.) I have been toying with the idea of adding some more yoga into my fitness routine. I have been hitting up the weights at the gym pretty hard at night and the cardio machines pretty consistently in the mornings – my body could use a bit of a refresh. Yoga always helps me fine tune my flexability, recenter myself, and identify areas for improvement and in need of rest. So this week I took the plunge and bought a Groupon to a local studio that is literally a stone’s throw from my apartment. I am looking forward to getting my flow on!
2.) I finally gave in to the peer pressure and hopped on board the SnapChat train. I was initially planning to keep my account private and just use it with friends, then I realized I was mostly snapping about fitness and nutrition and those topics have always resonated with you guys. Plus, I feel like I know a bunch of my readers as friends, we’ve been following along with each other over the years. So if you feel so inclined, my username is Leslee.Marie – lets be snap buddies!
3.) Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips. I was introduced to this product by my friend Nicole and I am officially obsessed! I have had perpetually chapped lips since November. Living in Connecticut and completing my dietetic internship here has meant I am chronically dehydrated during the days (water bottles aren’t permitted on the hospital floors) and then assaulted by cold, dry, windy weather walking around the city at night. I needed a lip balm intervention and Vasoline and plain ol’ chapstick were not making the cut. I apply this lip balm at least twice a day, once in the morning and night, and I have noticed that my lips are significantly more hydrated and healthy. It is a bit pricey to purchase, but it really is worth it.
4.) We got about twelve inches of snow last Thursday, then maybe another three inches over the weekend, so the streets of New Haven have been icey, wet, and just plain gross. Having left my car back home in Philadelphia, I have been relying on my legs as my main form of transportation here. Luckily, I was gifted a pair of Hunter boots last Christmas from my brother and his sweet girlfriend, Felicia. I have been rockin’ my baggy ski jacket and boots all over town. These boots keep my feet warm, dry and still look fashionable…the ski jacket…well, not so much. If you don’t yet own a pair, you should seriously considering investing in them, they have been my salvation these last two weeks.
Thanks for reading, friends! Hope you all have a wonderful and warm weekend. Tell me, what is currently involved in your fitness routine? Let me know if in the comments!
