FRS Healthy Energy Chews

by Her Happy Balance on December 13, 2012

You know that time in the afternoon, right around 2 or 3pm when you can’t help but notice you’re just dragging along? Maybe a good alternative to that extra cup of coffee is an energy chew. I actually am not a coffee or tea drinker (please hold the glares of contempt, coffeeholics) so I need something to keep going. I recently tried these and here’s what I think:

FRS energy chews

  • Loaded with vitamin C and B-complex vitamins
  • Boasts containing 270mg of flavonoid antioxidants per saving compared with only 40mg in a serving of raspberries and 20mg in an apple
  • Contains quercetin, a derivative of fruits/veggies/grains which may have anti-viral or anti-cancer properties (not scientifically confirmed)
  • Comes in 4 different flavors (pineapple mango, pomegranate blueberry, lemon lime, and orange)
  • Each soft chew is individually packaged

  • Contains caffeine (this may be a pro to some of you)
  • Retails at around $20 for 30 chews (15 servings) which is a little pricey but overall not a bad price for an energy boosting product
  • 8g of carbs and 6g of sugar in each serving, a little steep for 2 small chews
  • Texture is a little off (think Now and Later candy meets Flintstone vitamin…yeah)

I tried the pineapple mango flavor and I would say that the taste was just okay. I only took one chew, instead of the recommended two, and approximately 10 minutes after nomming it down I started to feel more energized, but I also got a dull headache. I asked two other people to give the chews a try as well and neither of them felt the headache side effect that I did. As with most supplements, it’s really up to each individual to decide whether or not the product is a good fit for his or her body.

Are you interested in trying these chews? FRS Healthy Performance offers a free sample pack that includes hard and soft chews as well as 14 servings of their energy powder drink  and a coupon. The whole pack is valued at $25 and available to anyone who would like to give it a try , you just pay the small shipping fee of $3.95 (not too bad considering all the stuff you’ll be getting). Here’s More info about the FRS free trial. If any of you send away for it, you’ll have to let me know what you think!

*All thoughts and opinions are my own, I was not compensated for the product*

What’s your favorite way to get that extra energy boost?

Which flavor would you be most interested in?

That’s a bummer that you got a headache! Did you try them again and see if it happened more than once? I hope you find something that does the trick 🙂
