GoMacro Bar Review & Giveaway

by Her Happy Balance on July 9, 2015

I’ve been getting a little predictable with my snacking lately. The usual suspects include fruit, carrot sticks, almonds, homemade balls and sometimes popcorn. It’s getting so predictable that I think the girl on the other side of my cubical knows that 3pm each day is carrot stick o’clock by the clockwork crunching.

My snacking can best be described as nutritionally satisfying, but a bit tiresome. I know granola/protein/power bars can be an easy way to add a little variety into your diet, but a lot of the time a single bar can cost you about 300 calories. I am a big believer in bulk eating, AKA I really like to eat. I would rather eat 300 calories as a big, veggie salad than a single granola bar. More chewing > less chewing. So I generally reserve those types of bars for when I’m really short on time and use them as a meal replacement. I still like the idea of a bar, but I want a less energy dense option. Enter the GoMacro Minis!

GoMacro Bar Review

Plus, is it just me, or isn’t everything just cuter in miniature form?! Just nod your head.

So, the lowdown on the bars…

  • 11 varieties
  • 90-110 calories each
  • USDA organic and non-GMO certified
  • Macrobiotic, gluten-free, soy free, vegan and kosher
  • Made with fair-trade ingredients and packaged in 100% consumer post waste wrappers

But basically all of that would mean nothing if they didn’t taste good. Luckily, the GoMacro minis do taste good and I do want to eat more than one at a time.  I guess I could eat three of them if I was in a crunch and call it breakfast, but I prefer them as my afternoon snack. And because of their size, I think they’ll fit into my flipbelt great, so I’m going to start experimenting with them as my running fuel. Real food > energy gels.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip GoMacro Bar

Now, if you’re really hungry, eating one GoMacro mini probably won’t do the trick. But if you’re just looking for an easy snack, this is a great go-to. I personally liked the apple walnut and peanut butter flavors the best. I would pass on the sesame butter ones in the future, not my style.

Okay, we get it, they’re small, cute, adorable, nutrient-dense nuggets of love. Is she done yet? No! I want you to try them for yourself…so enter the HHB giveaway to win an entire box {22 bars!} of assorted minis 🙂

Do you tend to gravitate towards a certain flavor bar? I like anything peanut butter or cookies and cream.

I usually can’t use a bar as a meal replacement because an hour later I’ll be starving! They are great as snacks though. I still love the good old brownie flavored cliff bars!

Being allergic to both peanuts and cocoa (and a billion other things….), I seriously appreciate the fact that they have an almond butter and carob bar! I survive off of bars as meal replacements or as extra calories depending on the day and situation. That being said, I love me some raw almond butter! THANK YOU TJ’s for bringing it back!
