Half Marathon Training – Week 7 Recap!

Okay, week 7 down, only 5 more to go until race day! Is it too early to start fantasizing about the monster pile of cheese fries and copious amounts of beer I am going to “recover” with after the race?

Half Marathon Training Week 7

AM – 3 mi. run outside
PM – biceps and triceps

AM – core and yoga

AM – 20 mins. elliptical and shoulders

AM – 6 mi. run outside
PM – chest

AM – 20 mins. arc trainer and biceps/triceps

AM – 9 mi. run down the shore

Beach things 🙂 Rest day.

Another good week’s worth of workouts! I’m spending all of week 8 of my training down the shore on vacation so I’m not sure how I am going to get cross-training in. Maybe long walks each day on the beach? Lots of push-ups and body weight exercises at home? Any ideas on how I can get some cross-trianing in while away from home? The runs will be no problem, but I don’t want to lose any of my fitness level.

Do you wear different sneakers for different types of running workouts?
How often do you do speed work?

Awesome week of training! Your more than halfway there now! I try to do speed word 1-2 times a week.

Great job with training! I have my last long run before my race this weekend. After the race, I plan to refuel with beer as well, but I hadn’t thought of cheese fries. Brilliant!

Only 5 more weeks??? It’ll be here before we know it! I know there are a lot workout videos on youtube, grab some food for weights, that always makes things interesting, kidding, I mean it would make it interesting, but I’m not sure they would be heavy enough you know? Hmmmmm Maybe do a different type of workout, something you never do?

Never too early to start picturing that victory meal 😉 mine gets me through some of my tough runs, too. I do speed work once a week, and it seems to be working well thus far. We’ll see what happens as training continues! And I think walks are great cross training activities on vacation…yoga videos too 🙂

Long walks are great for cross training, but as long as you keep up your runs, you won’t lose your fitness from one week so I wouldn’t stress about it! However, I do have lots of workouts on my blog that you can do at home, or on vacation! I would suggest sticking to push ups, squats, lunges, and add to those. You can even grab some water bottles and perform some curls and presses.

Ever watched/done any of the Tone It Up workouts on Youtube? I use those for cross training a lot. They have some HIIT and Total Body workouts that are quite good. You don’t need a lot of room or accessories to complete them either.

I have so many different running shoes, all for different types of runs.
