Hersheypark Christmas Candylane!

by Her Happy Balance on December 5, 2013

I decided to get into the holiday spirit a little earlier than usual this year by kicking off the season at Hersheypark’s Christmas Candylane the weekend before Thanksgiving! I had been to Hersheypark a few times during high school on field trips, but I had never been to the park during Christmas time before.

Hersheypark Christmastime

Hershey Christmas Candylane

It was really incredible. I don’t know how the people at Hershey did it, but they converted their park into a Christmas fantasyland. Even the rides were changed over to sport a Christmas theme. The tilt-a-whirl has always been a favorite of mine, so of course I had to go on that ride!

And I definitely felt like a kid at heart when I went on the carrousel. What can I say, the overwhelming Christmas spirit made me want to embrace my inner child and ride all of the rides!

The Swinging Ship, Monorail, Train, and Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge were some of our other favorites. And who can say no to chocolate-y, peanut-buttery hugs from a life-sized Reese’s cup? Frosty the snowman and Mrs. Frosty were also hanging out around the park taking photos with people.

Me with a Reeses Cup

The beefcake’s favorite attraction was Santa’s Stables full of all of his reindeer! The stables were right next to an ice skating pond that you could go skating on. And lots of kids were getting their photo taken with Santa Claus.

There was kettle corn, s’mores, hot chocolate, and homemade potato chip kiosks all around the park. They also has a few indoor dining areas serving sandwiches and pizza. We decided to share these loaded fries and eat them inside to stay warm. French fries + BACON + cheddar cheese + ranch dressing = one happy girl!

I also couldn’t say no to a cup of Hot Apple Cider. I sipped on it when we went up into the Kissing Tower…look at this view!

At 5pm the first of the Christmas light shows started; a new and different light show plays every half hour. We only stuck aorund for one as it was getting pretty darn cold out! If all of the lights used in the light show were put end to end, they would total 12 miles of lights! It was so pretty watching the lights go on and off as they synchronized to the Christmas carols that were playing. I timed it, the light show we watched was 12 minutes long, not too shabby!

After the light show, we decided to head on over to Chocolate World. We took the tour/ride through the process of making chocolate, and were even given a bag of mini Rolos as a treat as we exited. Those would we Hershey Kisses cooling! The tour smelled delicious πŸ™‚

Hershey Kisses

After the tour it was time for us to say goodbye to Hersheypark…but not without a trip to Troeg’s Brewery for some food and brews. That’s a story for another time πŸ˜‰ But you can’t pass up a visit to Troeg’s, the next door neighbor to Hersheypark, if you plan a visit!

Me with Candy!

Thoughts??
Have you ever been to Hersheypark?
What is your favorite type of chocolate?
I like Reeses (obviously) and Cookies and Cream bars.
Have you attended any holiday light shows?

FTC: I received tickets to Hershey’s Christmas Candylane courtesy of Hersheypark.

I love Hershey! I ran the half there last fall (backed out of this year’s unfortunately) and always have a great time. I love the food and of course the desserts! Such a good time and always clean and nice versus other types of amusement parks.

Hershey park seems like it would be right up your alley πŸ˜‰ Good point about the cleanliness, that is definitely very true of Hershey.

I want to go! I may have to add this to my December Fun List. I’ve never been to Hershey around Christmas before.. and with Troeg’s next door? Yepp, it’s a must!

It was such a blast. I thought seeing reindeer and having everything all lit up was pretty much the coolest thing ever πŸ™‚ Definitely visit!!!

This is too cool!! Love the lights on those trees, super pretty! I’ve never been, but I have a feeling that now, one day I will make a trip over there this time of the year to go! I love their special dark chocolate, the people I dogsit for always have some, so I enjoy some πŸ™‚

Hahaha! Perks of dog sitting! πŸ™‚ Whenever you decide to visit, drop me a line and we could go together!

I love Hershey Park especially for the free chocolate after riding the Chocolate World ride! My friend and I used to go some weekends in college if we had nothing to do just to continuously get free chocolate! Haha! My favorite is definitely the dark chocolate reeses’ cups!

That’s such a fun girl date! I bet my girlfriend’s and I could do some serious damage in the chocolate store for sure πŸ˜‰

Aww Hershey! I’ve never been at Christmas, but it looks amazing. I love the free samples they give out at Chocolate World. If they had been giving out Rolos when I worked there, I would have gone on the ride every day. And they have the most amazing chocolate milkshakes in Chocolate World. I think the key is that they use chocolate milk and chocolate ice cream. So good.

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 2:44 pm

You worked there?! How fun is that! It was the first time I received Rolos after the ride, usually it was just a square of Hershey chocolate…I liked the upgrade πŸ˜‰

SO JEALOUS. Those fries remind me of poutine, a traditional canadian dish featuring my beloved french fries, gravy and cheese curds. It’s a bowl full of amazingness!

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 2:43 pm

Poutine is a Canadian thing?! I had NO idea. I am obsessed with it. I actually ate more fries on this day from Troeg’s brewery and it was the best Poutine I have ever had. What are cheese curds? Little gifts from heaven? Most likely.

ooh that is so awesome you did this! I was so contemplating it, but then decided not too now I wish I did, looks like a blast!! I want to see reindeer! πŸ™‚ I actually have never been to Hershey

Kristen December 5, 2013 at 10:21 pm

I love Hershey! I try to go there every few months just for the Reese’s peanut butter milkshake at Chocolate World. Mmmmm. I haven’t been there for Christmas since high school, but I might make the trip out from Philly just for all those Christmas lights!

Jessie December 5, 2013 at 10:56 pm

Ah! First, I had no idea you lived near Hershey Park – or maybe I did? Where exactly are you from? (sorry if you’ve told me).

I LOVE Hershey Park, especially during the holidays. I grew up about 30 minutes south, and Joshua (my husband) grew up 15 minutes away.

Brittany December 5, 2013 at 11:03 pm

OMGAHHH I WANNA GO!! This is sooo awesome. Please let me come sleep in your closet and stay with you just to go here..OHH AND TO SEE YOU TOO OF COURSE!

olivetorun December 7, 2013 at 7:31 am

I don’t think I can explain in words how jealous I am that you experienced this! I’d love to visit Hershey Park!
