Spring Outside HIIT Workout – Guest Post

by Her Happy Balance on May 15, 2014

Happy Thursday, friends! I’m currently wrapping things up in Orlando now and saying goodbye to the land of Mickey Mouse.  While I soak up my last few rays of Florida sunshine, I have a wonderful guest poster {who created a fantastic HIIT workout!} for you to check out! Enjoy 🙂

Hello, Her Happy Balance readers! My name is Heather and I write over at Housewife Glamour, a blog that follows my every day life with my husband, my adventures of dancing for a professional sports team, and my love for all things health, beauty and fitness.

I started blogging while I was planning our wedding (which is partly where the idea for my blog name came from), and discovered the beautiful world of healthy living blogs in the process. This completely revamped my focus and strongly shaped the blog I run today.

I found Leslee a little while ago after she linked up with Friday Favorites, and was excited to take her up on her offer for me to guest post while she’s visiting my home town.

She specifically requested a HIIT style type of workout, so I figured that was the perfect motivation for me to get outside and enjoy this beautiful spring weather we have (finally!) been having.

Now that the sunshine has made it’s way up to Michigan, I have been spending more days running outside and less days inside a gym.

I often take advantage of the extra space in our basement for HIIT workouts, but every once in a while I will take the little or no-equipment exercises outside for something different.

I’m pretty positive our neighbors enjoy the extra entertainment. Whatever gets you to actually enjoy working out is well worth a little embarrassment, right?

Anyways, besides my regular rotation of running, Pilates, yoga, barre, and kickboxing workouts, I like to throw in a good high intense interval training (HIIT) or Tabata every now and then.

Here’s one that got me instantly sweaty over the weekend!

I might have gotten a head turn or two, but I have to say that working out outside (when the weather is bearable) is one of my favorite things to do.

Especially when I have my number one furry fan right beside me!

Getting out and enjoying the fresh air is one of the main reasons I started running and training for races. If you aren’t necessarily a runner, you can still get in a good outdoors workout without worrying about lugging a ton of equipment by using this workout or even creating your own.

That’s the beauty of HIIT, my friends!

Thanks again, Leslee, for allowing me to guest post today. I hope you get the chance to pop over to Housewife Glamour and say hello every once in a while. Have a wonderful week!

I love HIIT workouts! I enjoy working out outdoors – but I have a very short temperature range that my body tolerates : )

Totally understandable. Being a Florida native, I remember having to time outdoor runs and activities just right! It’s crazy what a difference the sun and warm (or cold!) temperatures can make!

I can TOTALLY get down with working out outside.
However, I did it once at a park and that was AWESOME but planking on concrete with no yoga mat was #painful. Ugh! 🙂 You are adorable, glad that the sun decided to make its way to Michigan! Come on down to ATL to get some sun everyday!! Hahaha!

Oh man, that does sound painful! And I would love to come to ATL! Wanna trade? lol 😉

Agreed!! Working out outside is just amazing, it never gets old. Although I prefer to do all my runs inside, it definitely helps me to get my speedwork in, and to push myself harder than I could outside on my own. I like working out with a buddy, but I do my own workout haha so I just like having them there so I have someone to talk to.
