January POPSUGAR Must Have Box Reveal

by Her Happy Balance on February 3, 2014

Y’all know that I am a sucker for a monthly subscription box – it’s all about the element of surprise! In case you missed it, here are a few of the other subscription boxes I’ve tried in the past:

My family knows that I hate picking out my birthday and Christmas gifts. Sure, I may hint a bunch about what I want, but I hate knowing for certain what I am and am not getting. It kind of works the same for me with these boxes, I know the types of things I will receive, but not the exact items. The fun is unveiling the mystery 🙂 Today I’m sharing the loot in my POPSUGAR Must Have box.

Must Have Box Opened

This box is a subscription box for women featuring items that are current “must haves”  in the field of  health, beauty, home decor, and more. The cost of each box is $39.95/month with free shipping. This was definitely the priciest subscription box I’ve tried so far, but the items were so worth it!

January’s box was all about “a fresh start” with the new year.

January must Have Box

1.)  Pipcorn Truffle Mini Popcorn ($6) – this stuff was addictive!! The idea of the mini kernels is that when they pop, because the corn is so small, the shells (that usually get stuck in your teeth -arghh!) are virtually obliterated because of how tiny they are. It’s actually true, I didn’t have any issues with shells in my teeth! I did see a few here and there, but they were so small that they didn’t cause any problems. The corn is non-GMO and it is popped in olive oil. Final verdict: popcorn crack.

2.) Malin + Goetz Detox Face Mask ($40) – I couldn’t have received this at a better time. My skin has been all over the place recently. It’s been dried out because of the bitter cold, but I still get pimples on my forehead from sweat and make-up. This mask (made with natural ingredients like almond extract – smells delicious!) is supposed to help oxygenate your pores. When I put it on, it kind of felt like there were tiny pop rocks on my skin. There are no scrubs or exfoliants in the mask, it literally just foams up and pops a little on your skin from the air bubbles it creates – it felt pretty cool! You’re supposed to use it 1-2 times per week in place of cleanser. After one use, my skin felt so much softer. Maybe I just want it to work so I think it did? I don’t know, but imma keep using it.

3.) Rifle Paper Co. 2014 Flip Around the World Desk Calendar ($16) – love it! I really have a thing for stationary and the pictures of all the different cities in this were gorgeous. I work in a laboratory and my desk area is attached to my work bench, so this really took a drab work space up a notch.

4.) Jack + Lucy Tech Gloves (~$20) – these were just okay. I like the neutral color of the gray with black, but I already have a bunch of gloves. I didn’t specifically have a pair of tech gloves, so that aspect of this was cool, however the tech tips only worked sometimes. They were fine on my iPhone, but would work  about 50% of the time on my Kindle touch screen.

5.) The Juice Generation Book ($20) – #OBSESSED. I’ve been juicing for almost 2 years now and I learned so much from this book! Did you know there is an ideal way to drink a juice to get the most nutrients out of it? I didn’t. In fact I was doing it wrong, oops! This book has juice recipes, smoothie recipes, and so much more. Love, love, love. I plan on reading it from cover to cover.

6.) Revlon by Marchesa Box o’ Files ($4) – these were convenient, but not exactly a “must have” in my book. This is definitely handy in that the files are small enough to fit into a pocket or small clutch for a nail emergency, but I probably wouldn’t have bought these on my own.

Overall – this has been my favorite subscription box to date! I got over $100 worth of products for less than $40, wahoo! It was great to get full-sized products instead of sample-sized products like many other boxes. I loved the variety in pieces, too. You don’t just get all food or all workout supplements, you get something fashion, beauty, food, and home related all in one. I cannot wait for my February box to arrive!!! Ohhh I’ve never heard of this box! I love that it has different types of items although $40 is steep! Says the one who spent a few hundred at lulu over the weekend… 😉

what a cool box! I really do love the new subscription services that have been everywhere.

I don’t subscribe to any boxes right now, but I know I probably will later on haha. I’m loving that face mask, I really want to try it!! It sounds like heaven!

I’m a bit jealous that you get all these awesome boxes delivered to you! I have yet to try one of these, mostly because I don’t like to be open minded about new products. I trick myself into thinking I don’t want to try anything new because everything I have is perfect so I can save myself some money. It works well until I go into any store at all and then have to purchase ALL THE THINGS (Target is a death trap).
That popcorn sound way too good! I am not a huge regular popcorn fan, but I love it if it’s spiffed up enough to my fancy palette… hahaha. Hope you have a wonderful Monday you beautiful sunflower you! PS have you watched the PnR where Chris and Ann leave? SO SAD x 1 million. Ugh. It won’t be the same.

I’d never heard of this box until you mentioned it on instagram the other day! It definitely looks like it’s packed full of good stuff! I love when boxes actually give you full sizes and value worth more than you paid for the box (I got one subscription box once that was like $20/mo, but was only worth like $25. Lame). I’m going to have to check this one out!

I’ve never tried one of those boxes before, although I see them all the time on blogs. I think it’s a cook way to try new products and whatnot (and that calendar is gorgeous), but I don’t have money in my budget for something like that at the moment. I always enjoy seeing what’s in them though, so thanks for sharing 🙂

My favorite subscription box is still Stitch Fix, but that’s because I’m a clothing addict. Subscription boxes with products always scare me a little bit because I’m the person who reads every review possible before ordering something.

Ooh I’m loving that calendar!! Super cute! I have never even heard of this box subscription!

Davida @ The Healthy Maven February 4, 2014 at 4:20 pm

Well I’m not officially on a mission to find that “pipcorn”…have I ever mentioned my obsession with truffles!

The Zen Kat February 5, 2014 at 9:51 am

I want that popcorn truffle! Yum! Popsugar always has the best offers.
