Marathon Training – Week 7 Recap!

by Her Happy Balance on August 25, 2015

It’s starting to feel a little crazy that I’m really inching towards the half way point of training now. Week 7 of 20 is in the books. I chose to do 3 runs instead of 4 again this week. I think at this point that is the maximum times my body wants to run in a week. Maybe when the temperatures cool down and the humidity eases up that will change, but right now 3 runs is about all I can handle with these conditions. Here’s a peek into my training workouts this week.

marathon training plan

Monday:
AM – 4 treadmill miles

Tuesday:
AM – biceps/triceps

Wednesday:
AM – Shoulders

Thursday:
AM – 7 miles. First 5.5 went by pretty well, the last 1.5 seemed to drag. It was a humid and hazy day.

Friday:
AM – 35 mins arc trainer and a few core exercises/machines at the gym. I kept it light so I wouldn’t be sore for my long run.

Saturday:
AM – 14 miles. This was the longest distance I had ever run before and it was tough. I guess I can say it’s a distance PR? At least I got to do it in my happy place – down the shore 🙂 I’ll take it. I also tried out a new fuel on this run (watermelon Gu Chomps) and I didn’t experience any GI problems so I’m pretty happy about that as well.

Sunday:
A rest day spent with a book in my hands sand between my toes 🙂

Thoughts??
Longest distance you’ve ever run?
Do you like to incorporate shorter races into your training schedule?

My body only likes to run three times a week too. It’s ok : )

The longest distance I’ve ran is 26.2 miles. But then, because Disney is a trickster, I ended up walking about 6 more miles between walking to the corrals and walking around a park.

Glad to know I’m not the only 3x/week runner out there! 🙂

And Disney IS tricky, tricky! I’d say after that race you were entitled to many a Dole Whip or Disney ice cream bar 😉
