Stocking Stuffers for the Runner in Your Life!

by Her Happy Balance on December 3, 2013

Happy Tuesday, friends! So…who has finished their holiday shopping? Did you get it all done on Black Friday? Yesterday on Cyber Monday? Have you even started yet?! Have no fear, you’ll get it all done! 🙂 Today I wanted to share some stocking stuffer ideas that would be great for the runner or athlete in your life! And if anyone would like to know my mailing address, I’d be happy to receive these presents too. I kid, I kid! …. No, but really, any takers?

Stocking Stuffers for Runners

1.) Fuel. Clif shot blocks and Honey Stinger waffles are faves of mine.

2.) Shoe Inserts. Good lord, my feet would love a pair of these! Any added comfort while pounding pavement or treadmill is always much appreciated.

3.) Hand Warmers. December is realllly cold in Philadelphia. Come to think of it…January, February, March, and sometimes even April are really cold in the City of Brotherly Love. Do your runner a favor and include a pair of hand warmers for use during or after those chilly runs.

4.) KT Tape. Enough said. Oh you want to hear more? Okay, fine 😉 KT Tape is used to help provide support to the achey and sore spots that running can sometimes cause, helloooo knees. Get it in a fun color!

5.) Nuun. This is a great post-workout drink to help replenish those electrolytes we lose when we sweat. Bonus – it comes in tons of yummy flavors! I want to try this flavor pack with the Tangerine Ginger flavor.

6.) Running socks. I’m a fan of Feeture’s socks and Nike socks. You can buy single pairs of socks at running and sporting goods stores.

7.) Body Glide. The day that I discovered Body Glide was the day that my thighs discovered heaven. Seriously. The “coveted” thigh gap (like, fo’ real?!) is just not in the books for me, and I am totally cool with this. But my thighs are very happy not to chafe when I run now, thanks to this little miracle stick. Stock up. Buy in bulk. I use it on the backs of my ankles to help prevent blisters, too. It’s essentially amazing.

8.) Body Deodorant Towelettes. Fact of life: people smell when they sweat. Second fact of life: B.O. is not sexy. These towelettes are great to throw into your gym bag to freshen up after a sweat session.

9.) HICKIES Elastic Shoe Lace System. I have to be honest here and say that I have never personaly tried these, but I really, really want to. They come in a bunch of different fun colors. Plus, stopping to tie your shoes in the middle of a run is kind of a buzzkill…these babies will stay put and keep your shoes tight.

10.) Essential Oils. I know ice baths are the way to go after a long run, but a nice hot bath is really more of my cup of tea. Add in an essential oil like lavender or peppermint and that bathtub turns into a spa experience 😉 Plus who doesn’t love aromatherapy? Everyone loves aromatherapy.

11.) Hair ties. Because you can never have enough and you always lose them, well at least I do. I like these hair ties because they reduce the amount of “hair-crunking” that putting your hair in a ponytail for long periods of time can cause.

12.) Laundry Detergent Packets. Okay, so this may seem a little strange for a gift, but if you go to a running store, you can get individual packets of laundry detergent geared at removing sweat stains and smells from clothing. See? Makes sense for a runner, right? I want to try this natural watermelon scented detergent 😉

Thoughts??
Who are the runners in your life?
What other items do you think would make great stocking stuffers?
What is one sports-related item on your wish list this year?

Great ideas! I need to try those hair ties. I can’t ask for any of those this year from my parents. My mom has banned all things running on my list. Apparently, that’s all I ever ask for and she doesn’t enjoy shopping for them. Ha!

Haha! I suppose if I wasn’t into running, shopping for a bunch of running gear wouldn’t be all that fun…maybe a bit confusing. Maybe your mom will surprise you with a few run-related items anyway 😉

Alex @ therunwithin December 3, 2013 at 9:21 am

haha these are awesome, I should probably just send this post to my parents….

Becky @ Olives n Wine December 3, 2013 at 9:24 am

Umm…. I want ALL of these in my stocking Christmas morning! As for workout related wish list items, anything from Lulu (and I got a giftcard for Hanukkah!) and running shoes. I swear I go through shoes every 2 months…

kathy @ vodka and soda December 3, 2013 at 10:05 am

these are all great things! i love the shot bloks too; also the sport beans. they are so yummy i practically ate the whole bag in one shot during tough mudder (when you’re only supposed to eat a 4 or so LOL).

the only thing i want sport related is a fleece vest!

Where did you store them during tough mudder? I ran the savage race in September and I don’t know if any sort of belt would have survived that race. I was a bit under-prepared clothing-wise for that race in general though. I did take a massive pre-workout shake though. Anyway, end tangent. Yay for sugar.

Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne December 3, 2013 at 10:41 am

Love this!! Only runner in my life is my boyfriend, maybe I’ll get him that Body Glide. I would add hair bands!! Mainly because I’m always on the look out for some :).

Heather @fitncookies December 3, 2013 at 11:14 am

I’ll take each! Seriously, though, I might print this out and place it in a non-conspicuous place (aka husbands desk…)

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 3:02 pm

There’s nothing wrong with a strategically placed wish-list 😉

Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat December 3, 2013 at 11:21 am

Love these ideas! My grandma always used to putting the most ridiculous things in my stocking – I’d have no idea what to do with them. I like that fact that these are all useful. I love the idea of the towelettes and essential oils.

Kristina @ Damn Ten Pounds December 3, 2013 at 2:23 pm

You totally nailed it with this list. I remember your awesome and healthy Easter basket, so it’s no shock you came up with such great ideas. I am planning on loading my hubby’s stocking with clif bars, butterscotch candies and Swedish fish (he prefers them over Gu’s these days), and nuun, but the socks and body glide are a good add! The only running related thing I want is to be able to run again! This back injury is getting better though 🙂

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 3:05 pm

Ahh you remembered my Easter baskets! LOL. I hope your new chiropractor works out for you so you’re up and running again soon, Kristina!

Caitlin December 3, 2013 at 3:37 pm

And I’m emailing this list (with kt tape highlighted) to joe and my fam.
My stocking will be fab this year thanks you 🙂

Jocelyn @ Peace Love Nutrition December 3, 2013 at 4:07 pm

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 3:05 pm

Thanks, Jacelyn! 🙂 And thank you for stopping by, too!

Filiz December 3, 2013 at 10:03 pm

Awesome suggestions… #7 sounds like it solves all life issues.

#7 probably could solve a good amount of the world’s issues 😉 Highly recommend it!

Jill @ Fitness, Health and Happiness December 4, 2013 at 7:17 am

Great list! I LOVE hand warmers and Nuun too!

Her Happy Balance December 5, 2013 at 3:07 pm

Thank you, Jill! Nuun is pretty darn delicious, I like the strawberry lemonade flavor.

Karen @karenlovestorun December 8, 2013 at 9:26 am

Great ideas! I would add lock laces to the list…I don’t have them but would love to try them!

Kristine Reyes December 16, 2015 at 2:08 pm

Nice ideas! Might also want to add headbands aside from hair ties. 😀 Sharing your thoughts on page the ZeeGear site.
