Swiftwick VIBE Sock Review

by Her Happy Balance on July 17, 2014

I will be the first one to admit that I have tricky feet. After years of wearing Uggs and flip-flops without a care, I’ve landed myself with some tootsies that have some serious arch issues. And by arch issues, I mean I don’t really have much of an arch anymore. I’m not completely flat footed, but I definitely do need arch support. In an effort to help my feet, I wear supportive running shoes and try to make sure that the socks I’m wearing aid in supporting me, too.

So, I guess I’m kind of picky when it comes to my running socks. Recently, I gave a new-to-me sock brand called Swiftwick a shot. After emailing back and forth with a company representative over my needy feet, we decided the Swiftwick VIBE would be a good sock for me.

Swiftwick VIBE

This sock is different from most socks in that there is no seam at the toe. I’ve had issues with thick sock seams irritating my toes and nails in the past, so this was a definite plus. The socks offer both compression as well as a padded footbed. The VIBE provides moderate arch support as well, a must for me.

I tried the “zero” height as well as the “one” height in VIBE. The zero is essentially an ankle sock, whereas the one goes a little bit past your ankle. Both heights were fine for me and I don’t really have a preference for one over the other. All I care about is avoiding ankle blisters. Both socks covered the section of ankle that rubs against my running shoes, so I was good to go in that department. It was nice that the socks did not slip down or bunch up in my shoe either; they stayed put through my miles. And as the company name suggests, the socks wick sweat away. Thank the good lord for sweat wicking materials 🙂

Overall, I was very pleased with these socks and will be using my own money to buy a few more pairs. If you’re a runner with barely there arches, I would recommend this sock as a viable option for some extra support.

Thoughts??
What qualities do you look for in your athletic clothing?
Do you tend to buy bright, neon colors or stick to more neutral colors?
When is your next race or athletic event?

FTC: I received two pairs of Swiftwick socks to facilitate this review. No other compensation was provided. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

You are the second person who I’ve hear talk about these socks. I need to check them out! Plus, I love the grey and pink combo. Yes, I want my workout socks to look cute too : )

I’ll definitely have to look in to these! I’ve been looking to upgrade some of my older compression socks, which are now less compression-y thanks to frequent wear!

These socks sound great! I didn’t realize socks could provide arch support ha, which would be ideal for me, too. Do they sell them in stores?
