Thanksgiving Turkey Treats!

by Her Happy Balance on November 21, 2013

Hi friends! One week until turkey day! Is everyone starting to stock their refrigerators with Thanksgiving staples? There is a local farm near me that has a grocery store attached to it, and the week of Thanksgiving it is literally MOBBED with people! I love holiday hustle and bustle, I just think it is so exciting. Well, when you head to the grocery store for your Thanksgiving prep, add these few items to your cart and you will impress your guests with these super simple and adorable turkey treats:

Thanksgiving Turkey-shaped Treat

Prep Time
20 min
  1. 1 18oz Package of Oreos (I used the holiday version with red cream centers)
  2. 1 12oz Container of chocolate frosting
  3. 1 Bag of candy corn
  4. 1 Small box of Red hots candy
  5. 1 Box of Whoppers malted milk balls candy
  1. Carefully separate your Oreos so that one side has cream and the other is a plain cookie, this is the most time-consuming part. Then add a small dollop of chocolate frosting to the side with cream and place your malted milk ball on top. You want to try and place your milk ball towards the back of the cookie to leave some of the cream showing in the front. Take the plain Oreo cookie and cover the entire surface in a layer of chocolate frosting. Attach the frosting covered cookie to the back of the milk ball candy. Now carefully add candy corn to the back of the frosted cookies to form the feathers on your turkey. Put a tiny dab of frosting on the top of the milk ball and add your red hot candy, this will be your gobbler. Enjoy!

My mom used to make these when I was little kid so that I could bring them into school with me. I’m keeping the tradition alive by passing them onto you guys! Now, we like to put these on the Thanksgiving table next to each person’s place card. It’s a nice, little added touch.

What treats will you be making for Thanksgiving this year?

Love this!! I use to make cupcakes, but my family would never eat them, and I notice my boyfriend’s family is always too full, so I will not be making anything. Scratch that, I need to ask y boyfriend’s mom if she needs me to bring anything haha.

I love bringing something to Thanksgiving, it makes me feel like ‘m finally an adult haha!

This is actually one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen! I wish I could eat more than like 3 candy corn without feeling sick though…I have a very low candy corn tolerance, hah.

Your little turkey is so cute!!! I wish I had more time to get crafty like this, but just getting through the holidays with all the essentials crossed off is a major accomplishment 🙂

I hear ya, that’s very true. I definitely don’t have tons of time to be doing these things…I usually just neglect things I should be doing and replace them with things I want to do…oops! Haha!

Omg those are adorable. I am totally using these with the girls I babysit for on Monday night! I’ll have to do some thinking since Big Kid has a dairy allergy, but I bet we can makr a dairy free version too! Thanks for sharing this love 🙂

Hmm You could replace malted milk balls with mini reeses cups! And maybe scrap all the cream off the cookies and just use extra frosting? Let me know how it goes 🙂
