WIAW & Wholly Guacamole + Snyder’s Pretzels {GIVEAWAY!}

by Her Happy Balance on March 19, 2014

Hummmmp Dayyyy! Anyone else as stoked as I am to reach the midpoint in the work week? Can I get an amen?! Today I’m linking up with Jenn…let’s dive into the eats!

Breakfast: My usual steel cut oats topped with strawberries, dried cherries, shredded coconut, flax, chia, and {homemade} granola! This granola is addictive!!! I might even have to share the recipe 😉

Mid-Morning Snack: Strawberry Fig Bar square. I was getting hangry, homegirl needed some carbs.

Fig bar

Lunch: A tuna salad sandwich on Ezekial bread, gala apple, clementine, Fage Greek yogurt, and Wholly Guacamole Spicy Dip with Snyder’s mini pretzels for dipping.

lunch with Guac

Pre-Workout: C4 shake in fruit punch. Reminds me of drinking Hi-C juice boxes as a kid. I’m almost at the end of the container, I’m not looking forward to cycling off pre-workouts…whomp.

Dinner: Corned beef brisket and a side of carrots, potatoes, and cabbage {boiled in the pot with the brisket and spices} served with green sauce and horseradish cream sauce. This is literally one of my most favorite meals ever!!!

Corned beef and cabbage

I mentioned snacking on some pretzels and guac for lunch….well all I have to say is the Wholly Guacamole dips I tried were seriously delicious. I’ve always made my own homemade guac, but recently I’ve been having a hard time finding good avocados. Has anyone else experienced this? On more than one occasion I’ve gone to the store and returned with avocados that were rock hard and had to wait for them to ripen, or bought what I thought was a ripe avocado and it turned out to be overly ripe and I had to toss it. Lame. So these pre-made guacamole dips were really convenient for me as I seem to crave Mexican food ALL. THE. TIME.

Here’s a little more info about the dips:

  • All natural
  • No preservatives (I could pronounce all the ingredients!)
  • Gluten and Dairy Free
  • Kosher
  • Made with real Haas avocados
  • Can freeze them for up to 3 months

Wholly Guac and Pretzel Giveaway

I tried the Classic, Spicy, and Homestyle dips along with a layered dip of taco bean dip over guacamole. The spicy dip definitely had some major kick! I love my spicy foods. But my favorite was the classic flavor. And I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the layer dip! I’ve never really liked refrained beans, I always thought they tasted bland, but the pinto bean dip on top was seasoned well and had some corn mixed in which gave it a nice textured consistency. You can apparently eat the layered dip hot or cold, but I went with cold because it was quicker and when an avocado craving hits, you’ve got to go with it 😉 It was also fun using mini pretzels to dip into the guac instead of tortilla or potato chips. The salt from the Snyder’s pretzels paired well with avocado (lots of kosher salt has always been the secret to my homemade guac) and they were convenient to add to my lunch box or eat on-the-go.

I love Wholly guacamole! Their little cups are the perfect size for lunch or snacking. I’ve never tried guac with pretzels though. I love both, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work!

Taryn March 19, 2014 at 9:03 am

Ooh, love the Wholly line – their guac’s good, and I use their salsa a lot too. Yum!

Jen@Twenty-Something&Starving March 19, 2014 at 9:31 am

Heh – homegirl needed some carbs. I’ve been there. I feel like I’m always there lately haha. Your lunchbox setup is adorable, btw!! And I effing love guacamole. I think simple is best – when I make mine it’s just avocado, lime, cilantro, and red onion and just a tinnnny bit of salt. I’ve made it with other things thrown in, too, like tomatoes or jalepenos or even mango and black beans, but I think simple is best. I do love Wholly Guacamole. They’re the best when you reallllly want some gauc and the avocados all look like butt at the store!

Caitlyn @ City and the Cubicle March 19, 2014 at 9:49 am

i love wholly guac!! the little cups are totally perfect. i’m on a guac kick lately- i dip them in those little mini pretzels or chips from trader joes 😉

Stephanie @ My Freckled Life March 19, 2014 at 9:52 am

I love to add a little salsa in. Yes, it’s the cheaters way, but it gives you the spice and just a bit of the tomato/onion to add a little something!

Samantha @ Anatomy of My World March 19, 2014 at 9:57 am

Love guac! I’ve had the 100 calorie packs of the Wholly brand.. So good!

Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl March 19, 2014 at 10:04 am

The perfect guac has to contain the perfect balance between lime and sea salt!

Megan @ Meganmumbles March 19, 2014 at 10:06 am

Hi am obsessed with guac and get it whenever possible. I have never tried Wholly but I am def going to have to check it out at the grocery store!

Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com March 19, 2014 at 10:32 am

The key to a perfect Guac to me is keeping it simple and using fresh ingredients! I love the little Wholly Guacamole packs… makes healthy snacking on the go SO easy.

Jess @ PB & Jess March 19, 2014 at 11:22 am

That fig bar looks delightful! And I love wholly guacamole 🙂

Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom March 19, 2014 at 11:56 am

Garlic. Lots and lots of garlic. And lime juice. PERFECTION !

The Zen Kat March 19, 2014 at 1:15 pm

Favorite guac tip is to use jalapeno 🙂

Kristina @ Damn Ten Pounds March 19, 2014 at 1:42 pm

There’s a major shortage of Avocado’s this year. We’re having a serious drought in California, where most of the country’s avo’s come from, and it’s affecting the crops. The drought is so bad, there were talks of cutting off the water to the grapes in wine country too, but I don’t think that happened. I could not live without guac AND wine. Good thing Wholly Guacamole can keep us guacaholics going 😉

Carolyn March 19, 2014 at 3:23 pm

Perfect guac = avocado + lime juice + laughing cow cheese!

jill conyers March 19, 2014 at 9:10 pm

My trick is the secret ingredients, a big handful of chopped cilantro and a chopped jalapeno. More perfection, half of the avocados are mashed and half are diced and added last. Yum! My family is obsessed with my guac 🙂

Tortilla chips or toast make the best guac combos.

Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More March 19, 2014 at 10:39 pm

I could eat guacamole everyday. So good!

Eugenie March 19, 2014 at 11:01 pm

The perfect guac has to have some pimenton in it.

Carrie H March 20, 2014 at 8:25 am

Cilantro and lime juice!

Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne March 20, 2014 at 8:59 am

Yum!! My mom is pretty much addicted to those Fig bars, I’ve never had one, but they look like giant Fig Newtons, so they look really good haha. Mmmmm Love dipping anything I can in Guacamole! Taquitos (you know, those really bad for you pre-packaged little meats wrapped up in a tortilla and fried) taste really good in guacamole, but I mainly just stick to tortilla chips 🙂

katy March 20, 2014 at 3:28 pm

i add garlic to my guac!

Howell March 20, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Add lime juice and finely chopped onions to mashed avocados.

Jessica Guthrie March 20, 2014 at 11:55 pm

I love guac on sweet potatoes, but for dipping…probably Snyder Unsalted pretzels!

Meghan @ fitnesscrEATures March 21, 2014 at 11:51 am

Ok, i’m about to comment on your post from today but I just realized in THIS post you are using our matching water bottle that we got you!! OMG don’t you love it? i love mine!!! but it does this weird thing on the inside of the top – it gets black and it won’t wash off. does yours do that?

Her Happy Balance March 21, 2014 at 12:08 pm

I do love it!!! It is my designated work water bottle that I fill every single day and I’ve gotten numerous compliments on how adorable it is!! Is it just me or does it being glass make it fancy? It is definitely fancy. Mine isn’t black on the top though… but I am also anal about making sure it dries out before I put it away. Black usually means mold, you may want to hit it once with some bleach? Or maybe the plastic just lost its color? I don’t know, Meggy bear! I shall use it forever and think of my favorite Georgians <3

Carolsue March 22, 2014 at 7:50 pm

Lime juice to keep it from getting brown and finely diced jalapenos to make it hot!

Susan P. March 23, 2014 at 12:25 am

Perfect guac is when I buy Wholly Guacamole!

Jordan March 23, 2014 at 11:18 pm

I love Wholly Guacamole! Especially the spicy variety. My trick to perfect guac is to keep it simple – fresh lime juice, some diced jalapenos or habaneros, avocado, salt, pepper, and cilantro. Keep it slightly chunky and leave the pit in the bowl to keep it fresh longer. I love avocados lol.

Ari Coleman March 24, 2014 at 12:33 pm

I love wholly guacamole . You can’t forget some fresh lime and a good pinch of salt to get the perfect guacamole

Laura P. March 24, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Fresh avocados, fresh minced garlic, salt/pepper, cumin, cayene, and lots of lime juice!

Shannon March 25, 2014 at 12:05 pm

Ive never tried any flavor other than the original! I will have to look for those!
